DEVELOPING GOALS, OBJECTIVES AND
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
The Planning Committee is working with the Tribe’s boards, committees, departments and programs to
develop Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely (S.M.A.R.T.) goals and objectives based on
the goals and priorities that have been identified. This will help determine our data gathering, reporting,
project timelines and staffing needs. The committee will also work with boards, committees, departments
and programs to develop their specific performance measures, milestones and reporting timelines within the
applicable budgeting cycle(s).
CLOSING STATEMENT
We are determined in our endeavors to engage our membership in this process through outreach and
education, while promoting cultural identity within our community where and when we can. Tribal Council will
utilize the information and lessons learned from this plan to make decisions on an ongoing basis to determine
services, benefits and program development.
This is a very exciting time for the Cowlitz Indian Tribe – The Forever People. As we move into the future with
our roadmap, it allows us to honor what has been accomplished over the last hundred years while looking
forward to the next.
