Planning Background
The Tribe met for years in the old Cowlitz Prairie Grange, fought for federal recognition
and won in 2002. The reservation went into trust in March 2016 and in April 2017 we
opened ilani.
With the onset of rapid growth since federal recognition in 2002, it became apparent the
Tribe needed to coordinate planning in order to build a stronger organization.
At that time Tribal Council prioritized the need for planning, developed the budget, hired
the staff and created the Planning Committee to oversee the process.
