By that same year, Samuel along with son David
expanded their enterprise by entering into the
boat building business themselves. Of the 53
vessels that were built, most were 150 tons of
carrying capacity or smaller. As time went on,
they produced larger vessels such as the 334 ton
Osage. The busy shipyard hummed year-round
with activity.
